Cheek Correction (Bichectomy)

Cheek Correction (Bichectomy)

Cheek Correction is a surgical procedure during which a portion of the fatty tissue located in the cheeks is removed through the oral cavity. The primary aim of this procedure is to reduce round and full cheeks, resulting in a slimmer and elongated facial appearance. It is essential in Cheek Correction that excessive fat extraction is avoided to ensure a balanced outcome.

Who Qualifies as a Suitable Patient for Cheek Correction?

Cheek Correction is a procedure that is suitable for both women and men. Ideal candidates for this operation are individuals with an excess of fat tissue in the cheeks, as they stand to gain the most from this surgery. Even for individuals with a standard facial structure, the removal of a small amount of fat tissue can lead to a more appealing appearance. Remarkable results can be achieved when liposuction in the cheek area is combined with cheekbone augmentation and the accentuation of the chin-jawline contour. Both autologous fat transfers and pre-made collagen fillings can be employed to emphasize chin-jawline contours.

The Surgery

Cheek Correction procedure is performed under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. An incision is made near the upper back teeth through which the buccal fat (cheek fat) is removed in the required amount. This procedure is also executed on the other cheek to ensure a symmetrical appearance and to maintain the removal of nearly the same amount of fat tissue. The incisions are sealed with self-dissolving stitches.

Postoperation Phase

To prevent infections in the oral cavity, patients are advised to consume liquid foods for several days following the procedure and to maintain proper oral hygiene. The oral cavity should be cleaned six times a day, particularly in the surgical area, after meals using an antiseptic mouthwash or spray. Self-dissolving stitches usually dissolve on their own within two weeks. In cases where self-dissolving stitches were not used, the stitches will be removed ten days after the procedure.
